Doug Viggato, CPA

Doug has been providing tax consulting and compliance services to clients since 1996. He currently serves clients ranging from large scale enterprises to executives and closely held businesses. Doug is passionate about communication and writing and strives to incorporate effective communication into his professional tax services. Doug’s primary practice is in the tax advisement of Partnerships/LLCs, S-corporations, Trusts and complex individuals in industries such as real estate, energy, professional services and investment management.
Doug is a founding partner of Barker Viggato in 2004. Prior to Barker Viggato, Doug served in management positions with two respected CPA firms, including a national public accounting firm.
Doug is a licensed CPA in Texas and is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Doug graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting with an emphasis in Taxation.
Doug’s areas of practice include the following:

- Consultation regarding the tax aspects of business purchase and sale transactions utilizing stock or assets
- Complex partnership allocations, target capital and book-up adjustments, common in the real estate and investment industry
- Fixed asset and tangible property acquisition/disposition analysis and compliance
- Tax planning, projections and compliance for families with trusts and family limited partnerships, including capital account maintenance and transfer issues
- Trust and gift tax planning and compliance including support for client estate tax attorneys
- Tax planning and compliance for executive equity compensation issues
- Consultation and strategy for like kind exchanges and involuntary property conversions commonly occurring from storm damage, fire and eminent domain issues
- Multi state tax analysis, apportionment and allocation
Outside of his professional life, Doug enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and daughter, Siena. Doug is an active member and group leader at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship church in Carrollton Texas. Doug is a lifelong enthusiast of drumming and mountain biking and often spends his free time outdoors on his bike.
